Quick Dialer 1.1 has been submitted for review in the Palm App Catalog. The new version provides new features along with fixes to several bugs while improving the overall performance and speed of Quick Dialer. Here is a short list of the changes:
- Added custom predefined SMS messages
- Added customized prefix dialing (support for dialing *82 prior to dialing phone number)
- New icon for “Add” to contact list
- Improved performance and speed
- Fixed problem when assigning background image files with special characters
- Fixed WebOS 1.3.1 bug in ImageView widget

WebOSRoundup reviewed five speed dial applications for webOS. Here is what they had to say about Quick Dialer.
I reviewed them all to see which was the best and found that Quick Dialer from Yellowfin Solutions was the best of the bunch. What put it a cut above was a single tap. The interface design allows you to call or text your favorite people with a single click rather than the two most of the apps took. It also helps that Quick Dialer looks good while it is doing it’s thing.

Palm’s update for WebOS 1.3.1 has introduced a bug that will affect all users of Quick Dialer that upgrade to WebOS 1.3.1. The bug prevents applications from displaying the contact images. This was likely introduced as part of the security improvements included in 1.3.1.
Palm notified me on 11/13/09 that they introduced a bug in 1.3.1 that breaks this and other similar apps that display contact images. They also stated it will be corrected in the next available WebOS update. Thank you for patience with the issue, it is just as upsetting to me.
For more information, please see Palm’s official release notes for 1.3.1, which state in the Known Issues section:
Third-party apps cannot display contact photos directly from the locations returned by the People Picker. This bug will be fixed in a subsequent webOS release. If you are participating in the e-commerce beta program and your app is affected by this issue, please contact your Palm account manager.
